The Role
Location: Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver
Rate: $50/hour
Job Type: Flexible hours | Live events | Project based
We’re looking for freelance Live Poets to join our roster for events and branded activations. This role involves providing live typewriter poetry at events and opportunities to explore additional writing experiences with us as we continue to grow. We handle:
All event logistics, bookings, client comms
- Branding, promotion, admin, invoicing, insurance, exposure and content creation
- Expenses related to vendor fees and travel expenses when applicable

What You'll Do
- Write fast, personalized poems on the spot with your own vintage typewriter (required)
- Engage with guests at events, pop-ups, and brand activations
- Capture and share content from your activations (video/photo, when possible)
- Represent Poesy with professionalism and creative excellence
What You'll Need
- Your own functional typewriter clear of any stickers, large scratches or markings (required)
- A love for writing and creative self-expression
- Respect for people and the stories they share with you
- Comfort performing in public and interacting with guests
- A collaborative, professional attitude—punctuality, reliability, and positive energy are a must
Important Details
- Events are offered based on your availability; priority is given to responsive and active roster members
- Poets must confirm booking offers within 48 hours of receiving the offer
- Typewriter performances are exclusive to Poesy (typewriter poetry cannot be offered elsewhere without permission – we’re flexible, just let us know in advance)
- All poems you write remain your intellectual property—we just ask for the right to share them for promotional purposes
