Meet & Greet
Hi there! We’re Daniella and Hannah, founders of Poesy.
When we founded Poesy (poh-zee) in September 2022, the name for what we do did not exist. An agency connecting people with poets is the best way to put it, but our vision remains much bigger than that.
After the pandemic, we were feeling disconnected. From people, from ourselves, and from our existing relationships.
We knew that if we were feeling it, others might be too.
As writers, the best way we knew to connect was through writing. So we took our typewriters to the street and experimented with writing on-the-spot poetry for strangers. It was an immediate click. We quickly realized the emotional impact personalized poetry has on people, especially as many struggle to express their feelings even within their closest relationships.
We witnessed stories being celebrated and people growing closer because of it. The more we continued to write personalized poetry, the more we were seeing the positive difference poetic expression has in people’s lives. And that impact is exactly why we continue to do what we do.
Poets have a unique ability to make people feel understood with just few words. By taking the time to understand personal stories and asking thoughtful questions, poets invite people to “spill the tea” and dig deep. Sometimes “what’s on your mind” is all we need to ask to empower people to connect, reflect and collectively express.
